In DH2, in the book, it’s Crabbe who casts the Fiendfyre in the Room of Hidden Things and kills himself etc. I know that Crabbe got dropped for the movie (the actor got busted with some weed), so the scene had Malfoy/Goyle/Zabini instead, and Goyle falls into the fire and dies.
